Council Elections May 2011 - photo courtesy of The Ticknall Village Voice

I am proud to have been elected to represent Aston Ward on South Derbyshire District Council.

Though I do not live in the ward I believe I was selected to represent the people of Aston, Barrow,  Elvaston, Weston, Shardlow and Great Wilne because of my love of politics, my tenacity and my commitment to Localism. It is my desire to support the people of Aston Ward so that they can protect the things that that they love and hold dear. To be a good ear to listen to grievances  and offer guidance so that they can fight for the things that will make their lives better.
Each village in our ward is unique with varying concerns and issues. I see my role as one of Community Leadership as well as being the ears and the voice of our residents at The Council House. As Vice Chair of the Finance and Management committee I take my role very seriously in overseeing the Councils expenditure of Council Tax payers money. I am a huge supporter and advocate of the concept of The Big Society. I believe we in politics, be it local or national, do not have the power or the resources to solve every issue or problem but we can support people to find a solution whereby they can greatly help themselves.
